As a woman or a man you may
be surprised to learn that just about your entire body is
covered with hair. Some is course and dark, and some is so
fine and pale that it isn't visible to the naked eye.
Humans, in fact, have more hair follicles per square inch
than most higher primates, including chimpanzees and
gorillas. |

As a man, shaving or trimming
your beard and mustache are regular grooming tasks you're
used to. But what you may not like is that bothersome excess
hair on your back or shoulders, around the ears, or between
the eyebrows that seems to grow back faster than you can
pluck or shave it. Or perhaps you're a competitive athlete
for whom regular shaving of body hair is a tedious chore.
Then it may be the time to consider hair removal.
As a woman, when darker,
coarser hair appears in places we don't expect - like on the
face, neck, abdomen, breasts, or arms - or prevents us from
wearing a high-cut bathing suit, shorts or even a short
skirt, it may be time to consider hair removal. |

Understanding the
stages of a Hair Follicle

There are three stages of
growth: anagen, catagen, and telogen.
Anagen Phase - During the Anagen phase,
hair growth is active and contains an abundance of melanin.
Catagen Phase - This is the regression
phase. The lower portion of the hair stops growing but is
not shed. The follicle is reabsorbed.
Telogen Phase - This is the resting phase.
In this phase, old hair falls out as a preparation for new
hair.
Laser treatment maximizes
effectiveness during the anagen phase when melanin is
abundant. This helps to better explain why usually more than
one treatment is necessary. You will require a minimum of 3
and a maximum of 6 treatments over a 12 –15 month period of
time, scheduling once every 3 months. |

Understanding hair
removal
In the past, the usual
remedies for unwanted hair were plucking, shaving, waxing,
or chemical depilatories. Some are painful, some are messy,
and all are temporary.
For long-term hair removal, electrolysis is popular and
effective but can be painful and slow. Hair by hair, an
electric current passes through a needle to destroy the hair
root's ability to grow. It typically takes months or even
years of regular visits - even for small areas, like the
upper lip. Risks include electrical shock, infection, and
pitting or scarring.
Now there's a more effective
solution, a state-of-the-art system specially designed to
remove unwanted hair faster, less painfully, and more
reliably than electrolysis. A laser produces a beam of
highly concentrated light. Different types of lasers produce
different colors of light. The color of light produced by a
particular laser is the key to its effect on hair follicles.
The light emitted by the Laser is absorbed by the pigment
located in hair follicles. The laser pulses for a fraction
of a second, just long enough to vaporize the pigment,
disabling several follicles at a time to eliminate or
significantly impede the hair's regrowth. Importantly,
special contact-cooling hand-piece is perfect for a woman's
sensitive skin. It directs the laser energy to the hair root
while protecting and cooling the surrounding skin. |

What you can expect
|
|
|
CLIENT A
The length of a laser session
may be a few minutes to an hour or more, depending on the
size of the area being treated.
Because the laser tends to treat hair follicles that are in
an active growth phase, more than one treatment may be
required to disable hair follicles that subsequently enter
this growth phase.
Laser treatment itself may cause a slight tingling
sensation. Most patients tolerate the procedure well.

 |
|
|
|
CLIENT B
But because some areas of the body are
more sensitive than others, topical anesthesia is always
available. The appearance of the treated area immediately
after a laser session will vary from patient to patient
depending on the extent of treatment and skin type. |
 |
|
|
|
CLIENT C
Immediate aftereffects, if any, are minor.
They may include redness and swelling, which disappear in a
short time. Most people return to normal activity right
away. We will be happy to tell you more about your treatment
and what you can expect during your consultation. |
